Exhibition of paintings at the Atelier-Galerie CONTRASTE
Born in Geneva in 1949, Jean-Marc Linder is a self-taught painter whose passion for painting and photography has been growing for over 40 years. Over the last fifteen years, he has had the privilege of devoting himself freely to these artistic pursuits.
In his work, he strives to give shape to dreams, memories and emotions. He explores a variety of techniques, including oil and acrylic paint, ink, charcoal and pastels. At the same time, I like to exploit digital technology to transform his photos into works of digital art imbued with mystery.
Through abstraction, his aim is to capture the ephemeral, be it a fleeting idea, a fading dream, a distant memory or even a scent. During the creative process, various elements, such as music, light, the mood of the moment or the desire to experiment with a new technique, take centre stage and lead me down a different path from my initial intention.
Whether in painting or photography, he attaches great importance to composition and colour harmony. Far removed from the often hermetic theories of art, he is firmly convinced that art must remain accessible to all.
For him, the act of creation is a source of pleasure, and he hopes that the viewer will immerse himself for a moment in the world of his paintings, experiencing this joy without feeling compelled to solve the inevitable riddle: "What does it represent?"
He fully agreed with Auguste Renoir, who said, "A painting must be a lovable thing".
