Chapelle de St-Ginier

The site of the Chapelle de St-Ginier was already occupied and built on by the 2nd century CE, which makes this a place of great historical importance for Sierre.

As far back as the 13th century, Villa was a parish and the Chapelle de St- Ginier was its parish church.

The most spectacular find during excavation of the site was a funerary column, a small Roman monument which, after it was restored, was placed in the south-east corner of the choir of the church. The reredos is the principal item of furniture. A tombstone closes the de Preux family vault.

The tombstone has medallions containing the de Preux coats of arms surrounded by a moulding.
