Irrigation channels (bisses)

The traditional irrigation channels known as bisses provide some easy and refreshing walks.

Bisses are small hillside watercourses, created by local landowners to protect their crops from drought.

Drawing their water from different rivers and streams, they irrigate the various crops on our hillsides. The gently-sloping paths that run alongside them offer easy walks with very varied views.

Running along valleys, gorges, and hillsides, they enable you to discover some of the most picturesque parts of the Valais.
