Annemarie Mühlheim-Solliard loves life, nature and people. From olive groves in sunny Puglia to scorched fir trees in the Val d'Hérens... From a reserved demeanour to small breasts shamelessly open to view... From the tranquil shores of Lake Geneva to the fiery torrents of the Aletsch glacier...
Annemarie Mühlheim-Solliard "Colour above all...". That's why she favours the fleeting sensation, the instantaneous, an impression that can fade as quickly as it appeared. To live in the moment and convey an emotion. When she paints, she wants to pay tribute to the landscapes, characters or moods of the moment. She wants to transcend reality, without trying to copy it. Visible brushstrokes, a tendency to note fleeting impressions, rather than the stable, conceptual aspect of things. She eschews dark shades and elaborate nuances in favour of bright colours in very divided strokes. Light and shade, melancholy and character emerge from her canvases. With a desire to get to the heart of the matter and convey an atmosphere, a gesture, an attitude... just a moment in life that passes all too quickly!
