Let’s Doc! – Marungka Tjaltjunu + Audition

Lens

In partnership with the Ciné-Doc association, the Fondation Opale is screening two documentary films on two different themes in their audiences.

MARUNGKA TJALATJUNU (DIPPED IN BLACK) - Matthew Thorne, Derik Lynch (35')
In this film we follow Lynch, a queer person but above all a Yankunytjatjara theatre artist (Australian Aboriginal people from the state of South Australia) who returns to his hometown of Aputula to leave behind the oppression he felt while living in Adelaide. On his way home, he will take part in an Inma, a ceremony involving visual, verbal and physical storytelling, including song and dance.

HEARING - Lisa Gerig (80')
This second screening looks at the Swiss asylum procedure itself and the challenges of the hearing in particular. In this film, we follow four asylum seekers as they relive the harrowing experience of their hearings, during which they have to explain and justify their reasons for fleeing.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with one of the film's protagonists, Demian Cornu, who
works for the State Secretariat for Migration.

The bar in the foyer will be open before the screenings and during the interval.
