Trio Arc

The Arc Trio was formed in 1998. That same year it won the Les Arcs Chamber Music Competition (France) and was named ‘Artist of the Year’ by the ‘Pro Argovia’ cultural foundation for the 2000/01 season. Since December 2008, Ardina and Jan Nehring have teamed up with pianist Irina Chkourindina. They perform in Switzerland and abroad to rave reviews everywhere.

Ardina Nehring was born in Ohio, USA. She won the Swiss Youth Music Competition at the age of thirteen. She studied violin in Winterthur, Cleveland and Zurich, then with Robert Zimansky at the Musikhochschule in Zurich, where she obtained her virtuosity diploma in 1997. She won the Duttweiler-Hug Competition in Zurich. Since 1998 she has taught at the Kantonsschule in Baden.
Jan Nehring was born in Wettingen, Switzerland. At the age of four, he began studying the violin with his sister, before switching to the cello. He studied in Zurich, then went on to perfect his skills with Marcio Carneiro at the Musikhochschule in Detmold (Germany), while at the same time studying sound engineering in the same city. Since September 2002, he has worked as a music producer at RTS - Espace 2.
Irina Chkourindina began playing the piano at the age of four. She studied in Moscow and Geneva, graduating in 2005 as a soloist. She has won several national and international competitions, including 1st Prize at the Orpheus Competition in Zurich. She has made several recordings and performs regularly in Russia, India and throughout Europe as a soloist and chamber musician.
