This short and accessible trail for all makes a tour around the Chapelle hill of Salgesch and highlights the observation of nature. It illustrates the coexistence of natural and agricultural spaces. The winegrowers have provided a quarter of their lands to create protected areas; these now shelter rare plant and animal species.
At the top of the "Kappälhubil" (Chapelle Hill), accessible by a small Way of the Cross, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the plain, the surrounding vineyards, and the Bois de Finges, which is an integral part of the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park.
The trail is very easily accessible from the village of Salgesch and can easily complement a longer hike such as the Wine Trail, or a wine tasting in one of the many cellars of the village.
OUR ADVICE
The climb up to the chapel offers a magnificent view of the surroundings.
Turn-by-turn directions | From the center of the village of Salgesch (Church / School Square), cross the village southwards towards Sierre, then just at the height of the last houses, cross the railway on a small bridge. From there begins the loop that goes around the Chapelle hill. From there, you can also climb to the top of the hill, a small additional detour that can obviously be made before or after the loop. The return is made by the same path as the way there. |
