On January 1, 2021, a new municipality was born: Noble-Contrée. Previously, the three villages of Veyras, Venthône, and Miège were each "independent." The loop starting from Veyras offers you to discover these three jewels of the côteau.
Veyras, the starting point of the route, is a village known for its cultural richness: many artists have stayed there, particularly Charles Clos Olsommer, a painter to whom a museum near the school is dedicated, but also the poet Rainer Maria Rilke, who stayed there at the dawn of his life.
Venthône, which you reach after a small ascent and after passing in front of the Anchettes Castle, houses in its center the Venthône Castle, built at the end of the 12th century.
Miège, whose inhabitants are nicknamed the "Calabrians," is a picturesque village crowned by a hill (the Crête) on which the vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see.
The route invites you to discover these three villages full of charm and authenticity.
OUR ADVICE
In each of the villages, many cellars welcome you to discover the wonders of the Noble-Contrée terroir.
Turn-by-turn directions | From the parking lot of the Veyras school (village center, in front of the Olsommer Museum), head north through the old village, then cross the cantonal road and continue uphill to the vineyards. From there, turn left and continue towards Anchettes. Pass in front of the Castle, then continue uphill, cross the cantonal road again, and reach the Moulins district. In front of the EMS, cross the road again, then enter the village center, up to the Castle. Take the path heading south, cross two paved roads, then turn left onto the vineyard road. Reach the Miège road, cross the Sinièse, then head towards the Church and then the Espace Terroirs. Then continue straight south along the ridge towards the Place du Sentier Viticole. Turn right and reach the Sinièse, then go back up to Veyras through the residential area. Pass in front of the Muzot Castle, then cross the cantonal road at the roundabout before returning to the center of Veyras. |
