Departure is from Miège, a typical wine village located in the municipality of Noble-Contrée. From there, start with a nice climb through the vineyards up to the heights of the village before entering the Planige forest. This magnificent pine forest allows continuing the climb sheltered from the sun. At the end of the trail, the hardest part is over; from now on, it will be flat and downhill. A short stop at the chapel of Proprija, then follow the Bisse-Neuf (Bénou) towards Venthône, through clearings and deciduous forests. Approaching the medieval village, descend passing in front of the Obabao play area then reach the village center, the Saint-Sébastien church and the Castle. From there, the trail crosses the sunny vineyard of the castle before returning to Miège, where you can take the opportunity to stop at the Espace Terroirs for a well-deserved glass of wine.
OUR ADVICE
At the end of the hike, it is possible to extend the day by taking the Terroirs trail or by descending back to Sierre.
| Turn-by-turn directions | From the church of Miège, take the road to the Rotse heading north, then continue climbing to the top of the vineyards. Once at the forest edge, take a right on flat ground, then left uphill along the reservoir, then enter the forest. Keep climbing until you reach the chapel of Proprija, near the Raspille. From there, do not cross the stream but turn left onto the Bisse-Neuf (Bénou) heading towards Venthône. Follow the bisse all the way to the heights of Venthône, then descend into the village passing through the road of Planige and the Obabao parking lot. Enter the village, pass next to the Castle, then descend into the vineyards. Cross two paved roads, then take a left on flat ground through the vineyards to rejoin the road to Miège. Cross the Sinièse then return to the center of the village of Miège. |
