The village of Granges has been part of the Municipality of Sierre since 1972. To reach it from the town, there is nothing more beautiful than a peaceful walk along the Rhône, on a route largely free of cars. For this, you must first leave the city center by passing the Géronde natural site, then reach the Rhône Banks via Chippis. From there, a straight line of more than 6 km follows the rhythm of the river. You cross a gravel pit, pass near the Ecossia sports area, the Pramont agricultural site, and near the hills resulting from the great landslide of Sierre.
Gently, Granges approaches: this picturesque village is dominated by two hills where medieval castle ruins are located. Long ago, Granges was an important crossing point in the Rhône plain, and the castles allowed for defense of the site but also communication between neighboring villages.
OUR ADVICE
In Granges, enjoy climbing the highest of the hills where the castle ruins are located to enjoy a 360-degree view of the region.
| Turn-by-turn directions | From the Tourist Office, pass under the railway tracks and follow the Bellevue Plain to the Pines roundabout. Then, climb the Planzette hill and enjoy the breathtaking view of the Géronde natural site for a few moments, before descending towards the Rhône bridge passing in front of the Technopôle.
