Exhibition by Joëlle Allet and her guest Catherine Cachin at the Art Métro Sierre gallery
Joëlle Allet :
This artist, who hails from Loèche-les-Bains, is presenting a selection of engravings and lithographs. These are images full of energy, in which the smallest strokes come together to reach another dimension, and the individual becomes part of a whole. Collective intelligence has long since ceased to be a notion reserved for the animal world. Human beings too are exposed to the "currents of life" and try to find their own personal path.
The drypoint engraving "ZACHAIOS" shows the human aspiration to rise to the heights to get closer to "God's plan" and find answers about the meaning and tasks of life. It's a real art to climb the tree of life without losing sight of the big picture or losing yourself.
Catherine Cachin:
Catherine Cachin is exhibiting a series of different print works that all revolve around variation. Variation, in the specific domain of engraving or silkscreen printing, in other words, the repetition of the same gesture, but carried out accidentally or by deliberately changing the colours, for example.
The series exhibited at Art Métro bring together abstract motifs such as squares and rectangles arranged in grids, like preparatory works exploring variations through the superimposition of tones.
