The Bernese collective ARBRE sounds much bigger than it actually is. With their expanding sonic spaces, somewhere between jazz and alternative music, Mélusine Chappuis, Paul Butscher, and Xavier Almeida have carved their way onto numerous stages in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Austria, and the Czech Republic. The number of venues seems impressive for a group founded in 2021, yet it doesn't really matter. What matters here is cohesion. Everything, yes, everything is decided collectively, and the shared creative process takes a central place; supporting each other, growing together, changing, and reconnecting. The music of their first album "Lunaires" was labeled atmospheric jazz; in their second album "Mes épaules seront rivières" released on the Neuklang Records label, it becomes both more committed and more restrained. And ARBRE's sound persists: expansive, multidimensional, intertwined, and benevolent, with an absolute love for sonic details and long developments.
