Practical workshop and meeting with politicians to learn about citizenship

Every year, a significant number of residents of the municipality of Sierre acquire new political rights through naturalisation or civic promotion.

Unfortunately, some of them do not make use of these rights for various reasons, including a lack of knowledge of how to vote and/or stand for election.

To encourage them to take part in civic life, Sierre is offering them a training course, which is also open to the other communes in the Sierre district and their elected politicians.

The practical workshops give participants the opportunity to handle voting equipment and learn about the different types of elections and political parties. To run the workshops, the presence of politicians from each town is requested, with due regard to political balance.
