40th anniversary concert of the Valais School of Jazz and Contemporary Music
In 2023-2024, the Valais School of Jazz and Contemporary Music celebrates its 40th anniversary! Founded in 1983 in Martigny, on the initiative of Mr Christo Christov, with 33 students and 8 teachers, it rapidly expanded to Sion, Sierre and more recently Monthey. It now has almost 1,000 students taught by 47 teachers.
To mark its 40th anniversary, the ÉJMA has scheduled a number of events for the 2023-2024 school year, including a gala evening with the presentation of an original creation, "A Minstrel's Life", composed by one of our talented teachers:
"A Minstrel's Life" is a suite for Big Band in 4 movements, representing an aspect of minstrel's life - the life of a musician embarking on a creative process. It covers a wide range of styles, from rock and jazz to blues and Afro. An original concert not to be missed!
