Born in Brussels in 1958, Alain Gielen has a rich imagination and a strong artistic passion. After attending the Académie d'Ixelles, he trained in drawing, sculpture and ceramics in Watermael-Boitsfort. Influenced by Impressionism, Expressionism and Fauvist colours, his art has become a figurative abstraction exploring nature and light. For this exhibition at Espace 100 Titres, Alain Gielen revisits medieval illumination, combining personal texts, initial letters and ornaments with natural pigments and gold, continuing a quest in which colour illuminates the silence of the gesture.
