These stories, told by a mother to her children, are brought to life in a large leporello painted by her daughter. An emotional tapestry in which maternal memory becomes landscape, evoking both personal and collective recollections. The text weaves a bridge between languages, generations and the local area. A printed leporello provides access to the texts in Upper Valais patois, German and French. A video unfolds the images and features the stories narrated in Upper Valais patois by the actress Franziska Truffer. Charcoal and wash portraits of villagers and a large panoramic view of the mountains of the Saint Nicolas valley on canvas complete the exhibition.
Born in Zurich in 1957, Irène Dacunha lives and works in Lausanne. A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Lausanne, she has developed a practice in which art is at once a necessity, a freedom and a joy, in a constant dialogue between observation, intuition and creation.
