Venthône - Bisse-Neuf (Bénou) - Planige - Venthône

The meeting point is the picturesque medieval village of Venthône, for a beautiful loop route that takes the Bisse-Neuf (also called "Bénou") and then returns to the village through the Planige forest. The first part starts from the heights of Venthône, from the SMC Venthône, Rétana bus stop. To reach the section, you must follow the cantonal road for 50m and then take the first right to reach the bisse, which was used to irrigate the meadows and vineyards of the region. The path winds along the hillside through forests and clearings before reaching its intake at the Raspille, the highest point of this hike, near the small chapel of the Proprija. Then, you return a few meters back and, under the cliffs, head down into the Planige pine forest until you reach the picnic area of the same name. The last section joins the village by road, in calm and without great difficulty. Overall, a beautiful loop between a bisse and denser forest, with magnificent landscapes as a reward.

OUR ADVICE
You can rent the Planige picnic area, property of the Grande-Bourgeoisie of the Noble-Contrée, for beautiful family days.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the top of the village of Venthône at the beginning of Chemin de Retana, follow the cantonal road towards Sierre for about 50 meters, then turn left onto Route des Voisses to reach the start of the Bisse-Neuf. Once there, head right and follow the bisse to the Raspille, where its intake is located. From there, go back a little and, under the cliffs, turn left and follow the forest road to the Planige picnic area. Cross the area and join the road that winds through the forest and then across the vast meadows before gently returning to the village of Venthône.
