A week to visit Sierre

The Sierre region charms visitors as much with its scenery as with its warm and welcoming atmosphere. With its lively terraces, heritage, natural beauty and local specialities, it is the ideal destination for a short break.

Discover our suggested 5-day itinerary to explore all the region has to offer:

Day 1 – The heart of Sierre and its neighbourhoods

To get your stay off to a gentle start, take the time to explore the centre of Sierre. Settle down on a terrace on the Place de l’Hôtel de Ville to enjoy a morning coffee before strolling through the town’s various neighbourhoods, each revealing its own character and history, shaped in particular by the tradition of remuage.

After your stroll, treat yourself to a break in the heart of the town with a scoop of artisan ice cream, the perfect way to cool down on hot summer’s days. Then make the most of the evening by soaking up the friendly atmosphere of the terraces and restaurants in the town centre.

Day 2 – Nature and wine-growing traditions

Head for the Bois de Finges, in the Pfyn-Finges Regional Nature Park. Set amongst forests, lakes and unspoilt landscapes, this walk offers a truly peaceful and refreshing experience.

Next, head on to Salgesch, a charming wine-growing village renowned for its wines. Take the opportunity to visit the Wine Museum and learn more about the region’s history and winemaking expertise. The day naturally draws to a close with a tasting of Valais wines in a wine cellar, offering a convivial insight into the heart of the local culture.

Day 3 – A gourmet getaway and an underground lake

This day celebrates the region’s flavours and curiosities. Start with a gourmet tour organised by the Tourist Office, taking in the region’s heritage, iconic grape varieties and 100 per cent Valais specialities. Accompanied by a local guide, discover some unusual spots before rounding off the tour at the ‘temple’ of raclette. This activity is available on foot or by e-bike.

In the afternoon, set off to explore the Underground Lake of Saint-Léonard, one of the largest navigable underground lakes in Europe. A boat trip immerses you in the heart of a stunning natural setting.

Day 4 – A day of hiking and panoramic views

You simply cannot visit the region without enjoying the magnificent trails overlooking the Rhône Valley. This day is all about the scenery and the panoramic views.
